"Moi je veux etre tordue."
I met the famous Bill Gile, today. One of Matt's dearest friends, an older gentlemen who does directing for plays at NJIT and who Matt used to (but not since dating me) go to see on Fire Island. He was very nice.
We were at NJIT to watch a compilation revue called Wise Guys and Fashionable Dames that he was directing. It's theme was that it all had the same musical writer, Jim Wise, who Matt also knew before his death in 2000. He's most famous for the play Dames At Sea, which I'd never heard of til Matt, but indirectly learned because of him.
Rachel Menconi, one of the singers in the ATC teen showcase was in a production of the show. Months later, I'm finding a signed copy of the vinyl in Matt's bedroom at his mother's. Weird connections. Apparently it's extraordinarily famous, particularly because of it's connection to Bernadette Peters, who starred in it at seventeen.
The event was one amazing songstress named Kiyanna, and an ensemble that just spent the rest of the time trying to either keep up with her or remain hapless scenery.
Other than that, not much else has occurs. I missed the episode of Angel last week, but saw this week's. Fred has died. I swear, Angel is the most woman-hating series ever... Darla, Lilah, Cordelia, and now Fred... The series does not like women. Granted, Buffy has had it's share of female-torment, but Angel has always been a boy-centric show, despite it's Cordelia presence and cameos from Faith and Drusilla. With Fred, it became more balanced. I don't know anything about Gwen, so I'll steer clear of that. But she's not on it any longer, so.
Now we have Illyria, a bitch-goddess from beyond Fred's grave, who's now in Fred's form (but nonetheless not Fred). I like her. I don't know if I like her instead of Fred, but I like her. I like the hair and the fact that Amy Acker looks officially nothing like Fred and that's an actress's strength showing through. Although, I'm just sensing some massive deja with Willow and Cordelia in mind.
I know one thing: I wanted Wesley to put Gunn out of my misery.
And at the moment, I'm fairly tired. I did sleep last night, but woke up three hours before Matt did, and after he left many hours later, nonchalantly collapsed in bed for sleep. I'm going to be doing that again soon.
In other news, I am temporarily obsessed with this song, "Belleville Rendez-Vous." I have made peace with "Into the West," and am less fond of the English version of "Belleville," but I still say this song was the exceptionally different track that deserved the Oscar. I really liked the English live version; I don't like the instrumentation on the recording. Yar.
I think that's all.
