Sharp

"Disbelieving eyes, chilled to the bone..."

Last night was such an odd, odd night. Somehow the entire Floorshow crew were in wigs singing with "Wig in a Box" to an audience that seemed like they'd never heard of the Angry Inch.

Sean had forgotten/lost/misplaced/eaten his regular Frank wig, and was using an awful Chaka Kahn-esque one for the show. In my "Planet Schmanet" punches, I actually managed to snag a finger on it, and it fell off. For Floorshow, we made sure that we all had random wigs in tribute. Sean came out with the Martian Girl wig from Tim Burton Night.

Other than that, it was a really, really nondescript show. The audience was impossibly dead, even though it wasn't really, really empty. It's depressing, though, that our crowd keeps dropping.

Hungry.

P.S. -- I like "Wunderkind" a lot, musically, but lyrically, it really doesn't even attempt to make sentences or even phrases.

Curious

"We're playing fast and loose."

Alanis' next album will be a retread, but a welcome one. She's doing her best-of.

Tracklisting: Thank U, Head Over Feet, Eight Easy Steps, Everything, Crazy, Ironic, Princes Familiar (MTV Unplugged), You Learn, Simple Together, You Oughta Know, That I Would Be Good (Studio), Sister Blister, So Unsexy, Hands Clean, Mercy, Still, Uninvited, Let's Do It (Let's Fall in Love), Hand in My Pocket.

It is a feisty effort to score with it's surplus of b-sides, soundtrack cuts, and rarities, plus a new song: her cover of Seal's "Crazy," which in her GAP ad, she states is her favorite song. Huh.

Still, there's "Still" and that's fabulous! She clearly rushed right to the singles, but also wanted to incorporate as much of her lesser heard stuff as well, including the bizarre inclusion of "Mercy" from The Prayer Cycle, this strange little concept album also featuring James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt. Alanis sings in Hungarian and French. That could be cool, nestled before "Still."

All the same, I totally could've written that set-list and there's only a couple surprises. I am left wondering where "Precious Illusions," "So Pure" and "Joining You" went to, but whatever.

Pirate, Arr!

Words by Alanis Morissette.

You're unsure and you're not ready so that must mean I want you
You're unavailable and disinterested - to you I look for comfort

A million times in a million ways I will try to change you
A million months and a million days I'll try to convince you

I have waited for you and adjusted for you and I am done
I have deferred to you and enabled you and I am done

You're too young or you're too old or you're simply not inclined
You're asleep or you're withholding - be that my cue to crave you

Several times in several ways I'll try to squeeze love from you
Several hours and several ways I'll feast on scraps thrown from you

I have bent for you and I've deprived for you and I am done
I have depressed for you and contorted for you and I am done
I have stifled for you and I've compromised for you and I am done
I have silenced for you and sacrificed for you and I am done

It won't be long before I am reclaimed
It won't take long and I'll be on path again
It won't be easy for us to disengage
I'm at the end of self deprivation stage

You're afraid of every woman afraid of your inner workings
You cringe at the thought of living under the same roof as me, god and everything

A million times and a million ways I've tried to alter to match you
Several times every several days I've tried to uncrush on you

I have waited for you and adjusted for you and I am done
I have deferred to you and enabled you and I am done
I have bent for you and I've deprived for you and I am done
I have depressed for you and I've contorted for you and I am done

Pirate, Arr!

"You go back to the center of your universe . . . "

I actually woke up at 4.15 and slept the day away. I got home like at quarter past five, which is the latest (or earliest) venture to my home after Rocky. Normally I'm home 3.30 - 4.00 but damn, this was late (or, early once again).
Rocky went well! Kristen actually went! She seemed to have a really goos time too, so that was nice. She hung out with John (as in Willow's John... I'm not sure how else to define him, seeing as I met him through Willow... Uh, Rutgers John?) and Chris. Chris did not go to the diner, but it was his loss 'cause we had some serious fun there. The table included Marc, Genevieve, Mike, Danielle, Willow, Willow's John, Kristen, the Kilt Man, Gary/Jason, and myself. We made interactive bohemian poetry. You'll probably be able to find it over at Marc's (see my friend's list).
My sister rawks by the way! Last week she came to see us and she took photos and made a site for us! http://afterophelia.com/rocky/
I'm going to talk to Larry about linking to it from the official HOH site - she got some awesome shots!
This week I think everything went well. I was nervous before the show, which I've not been for a while. It was very odd. I'm not sure what was going on.
Cast SexyGenevieve as Dr. Scott, Carrie as Columbia, Sean as Frank, George as Brad, Larry as Eddie, Teresa as Magenta, Jason as Rocky, Marc as Riff Raff, Allyson as Janet, Gamsby as Criminologist; Transylvanians: Willow, Nate, Wednesday, Danielle, SexyJen. Tech: Angelo, Mike, Gary/Jason. Lights: Erin.
I don't remember screwing up really, but "Superheroes" was done topless 'cause I forgot it and started to take my corset off and didn't have enough time after Ally clued me in. Normally she forgets so this was an interesting change of pace. Maybe I've gotten used to her and I've accepted her difference of performance (as opposed to Danielle, Lea, Willow who is learning the role) but criticism on her performance usually goes over my head. I don't always like what she does ("Dammit Janet" shuffle, "There's a Light") but I'm usually able to balance myself with it. I don't know her really all that well personally (to which some have responded that I'm lucky) but I have generally have no problems with Allyson directly. I'm probably the least confrontational of the cast (and certainly the least passive aggressive, hair-ball-hack-up in the direction of Nate) so maybe that's why. She often feels attacked and I've never given her cause to think I'm attacking her. I don't know... I think a lot of shit she got backstage from other castmembers was ridiculous. I'm definately all for talking about other cast people and I've got opinions and things I like and do not like about their performances but I'm generally only speaking about their performance, and not masking my contempt for their personalities or what they've done backstage or outside of the show.
By the way, I am seriously in love with Alanis' "Narcissus"... Under Rug Swept - the new album. Best tracks: "Narcissus", "Flinch", "Utopia", "21 Things", "Precious Illusions", and "So Unsexy". Yay!
