Perpetual, Nostalgic

"Why can we never go back to bed?"

Estelle Getty, age 84, died today.

Redemption

"Dust out the demons inside."

George Carlin died on Sunday evening at the age of 71. News reports suggest heart failure.

"Leave a message and I'll call you back."

Harvey Korman, who was the White King in my favorite version of Alice in Wonderland, died today.

Sydney Pollack, who directed one of my favorite films Sabrina, died earlier this week.

Sad.

Shock

"Everything we've ever wanted now lies within our reach."

Is it weird that I am more shocked by the death of a 73-year-old man than I was by Anna Nicole's?

Jerry Falwell, advocate of the perverse religious right (and who made his marks blaming New Orleans' disasters on homosexual advocacy, and Tinky Winky's gaiety), was found dead in his office.

He may have more power as a martyr than he ever did alive.

That said, I'm glad he's in a better place and dead.

"I see London, I see France..."

John Inman (Mr. Humphries on Are You Being Served; also the title character on Take a Letter Mr. Jones) died last Thursday, of complications from Hepatitus A at the age of 71. :(

"In December 2005 he and his partner of 35 years, Ron Lynch, took part in a civil partnership ceremony at London's Westminster Register Office." -- BBC News

Shock

"My love is dangerous."

Holy shit... Anna Nicole Smith died... She was found in a hotel room, unresponsive and apparently, well dead. No word on cause.

Holy damn.

It was plastered all over Yahoo! News all sketchy like "...says lawyer" but CNN actually has a source with a name and all. Larry King already has a show booked tonight with the grieving friends and family... how pleasant.

Porcelain

"It's all over, it's all over, it's all over in a flash."

Yvonne de Carlo, better known as Lily Munster died today.

Loved her.

"Remember that every silver lining has a dark cloud."

Reflection

"Called my name, but there's no way in."

Another Rocky Horror castmember died. Transylvanian Imogen Claire passed away on June 24th, according to Cosmo's Factory... She was also in Shock Treatment as the Wardrobe Mistress. In fact, she was all over cult movies, including Tommy, Flash Gordon, and Listzomania.

This makes me sad. She was one of Danielle's and my favorite Transylvanians and we loved how she carried herself in Shock Treatment.

Just very sad.

Drawn, Abstract

"What the heck is going on?"

The voice of Tigger died on Friday. The voice of Piglet died on Sunday.

I find that bizarre. Not that they died (they were old), but that two individual Winnie the Pooh figures died so close to one another. But on different coasts.

John Fiedler (Piglet) was 80; Paul Winchell (Tigger) was 82.

Friends

"I remember nights we spent, whispering our creed."

1. On Wednesday, Genevieve and I went into New York City to see Dar Williams at Madison Square Park. We didn't get to see most of the show, but caught "The Pointless, Yet Poignant Crisis of a Co-Ed," "As Cool As I Am," "Hudson," "When I Was a Boy," "The Christians and the Pagans," "It Happens Every Day," and I think "The Beauty of the Rain." I don't know that last song; I'm just guessing from the lyrics I vaguely recall.
She was good; very personable, and very amusing. Favorite quote came before "Co-Ed," where she said "This may or may not be true story. But it definitely happened."
We also had a great meal at the Olive Garden.

2. Jonathan Adams, Dr. Scott from The Rocky Horror Picture Show and the Narrator (Criminologist) from the 1974 London cast of The Rocky Horror Show died on the 13th, but it's only finally making it's rounds on the Internet. He was 74.

3. Genevieve, eLiz, Jamie, Matt, and I celebrated Midsummer last night, and had some excellent food and merriment.

4. Genevieve stayed over last night. We didn't go to sleep until long after 4. Our topics involved polyamory, suicide, respect for the dead, and probably some other stuff.

5. Strange Livejournal aside: "polyamory" isn't a recognized word in their Spellcheck. Although, neither is "Spellcheck."
