I was putting out the garbage and as I was walking back, a middle-aged couple met me on my way back to the house. I actually interrupted them as the wife was chastising her husband for the taking the "long" way by using the sidewalk when she would prefer to cut directly across the grass.

I said, "Excuse me, do you use this backyard as a walkway usually?" I got a gruff "Yeah, right to the church[across the street from my backyard]." I politely said, "Would it be alright if you didn't? This is a private residence now."

"Well, we've been doing it for years," he said. "Well, we live here now. And I would appreciate it if you didn't go through this way. I live here."

"Well," he mumbled, acting as if I was telling him that up was down and left was right. He struggled for words and motioned to the dealership, "A lot of people do it because you have the dealership next door." And...?

"Well, we would prefer if they didn't."

"Well, y'know..." he shrugged and they walked off. His wife remained stoically puzzled throughout the exchange.

This is one of a dozen or so instances we've had with people since we've lived here. Everyone seems so confused by this. It's a backyard, not a parking lot. I have never known anyone to cut through a backyard even if you didn't know it wasn't a 9-5 business. Or people to be so taken aback when called on it.

This calls for a fence, barbed wire, and attack dogs, if ever.

And, no, it's not the end of the world that people are doing it, but there's no reason that they should be. Walk the fuck around. And at least lie to me and say it won't happen again; don't argue when I say to get off my property.

I blew 2 fuses within 20 minutes, while preparing for the party.

This house's wiring is antithetical to my multi-tasking nature.

We will be sleeping in the bedroom tonight.

So much going on, I don't really have much interest to write about it.

Basically, we have moved. The apartment is empty and out of our hands... everything has been moved over. While not everything (most things) is in it's place here, it's at least here. We were inspiring, though, Matt and I with our to and fro antics last night.

It culminated in what I'd consider a pretty decent Frank for the third and final Halloween show. My Riff Raff was my best, this Saturday, and I put in I guess a pretty good Brad. No surprises, nothing destructive. A word of note: Carrie has retired, and I wish her (and Ryan) all the best.

Meanwhile my flesh has been beat and twisted, but the house is filled with things.

Sometimes I feel like I will never be "moved in." It's just a huge, overwhelming process. The office, including the filing cabinets, our desks, and the servers, have all been moved over here. In fact, we have a functioning office now, with phones, the Internet, and a vague sense of procedure.

Still much to do (most of my desk's contents are in plastic bags around my feet); and more to do upstairs. I was so exhausted from a grueling, unforgiving weekend of short sleep hours and extensive physical labor, that I just crashed after work on the couch. After an hour, Matt and I went home, where I promptly fell asleep on the apartment couch. Matt made me food, which I ate, and then went back to sleep. He also fell asleep (being probably more tired than I), but at 11, went back to the house to work on the basement's walls to continue to seal them. I wasn't able to do much else but move myself to the bed and fall asleep again until 8 a.m.

I'm not entirely working on autopilot, but I'm pretty zoned. I need to eat something and stretch. My body doesn't want to really stretch, though. My joints feel pretty tight and unwilling to bend.

40 has been in the office twice now. I'm sure this morning, after him cowering for 9 hours under Matt's desk yesterday, he figured it was all a bad dream. He's been cautiously wandering today. He does not like the car ride in the slightest, though.

Transitioning's for everyone.

It was a good show last night. I had a rough day, though, so the irony of all as that I wasn't sure if I was up to the task of Frank by the time I got to the theatre. I was able to pull it together, though, and I think turned in at least a competent performance.

Something was wrong with the sound system and/or the lens because the film looked like ti was being slightly chopped off and static kept permeating; I noticed the later only during "Planet Schmanet" and on.

We worked hard on the house on Saturday. Many thanks go out to Jamie and Randi for coming and helping. Maria, Ed, and Anna were also there, but they were driving me kind of nuts with their back-and-forth. Tomorrow, we trudge on, with additional paint. Well, "additional;" technically all we did on Saturday was primer. Oi.
